Kristan 'Krispy' Uccello
Technologist · Engineer · Author
I'm Kristan — most people call me Krispy. I've spent the better part of two decades building systems at the intersection of programming language theory, distributed infrastructure, and, more recently, artificial intelligence.
EmergentBit is my personal site: part blog, part project showcase, part public notebook. The name reflects something I find endlessly fascinating — the way complex, useful behavior emerges from simple, well-defined primitives. Bits become bytes become types become systems become intelligence.
I'm currently writing a book about building LLM systems from scratch using Rust and functional programming. The thesis: the ML ecosystem deserves better systems thinking, and systems engineers deserve better intuition about language models. The book is an attempt to bridge that gap.
When I'm not writing or coding, I'm thinking about the philosophy of computation, the epistemology of neural networks, and how to make expresso that doesn't taste like regret.
